i-Clean training module helps deliver top marks and a morale boost for staff at Rendcomb College
Situated in over 200 acres of beautiful Cotswold countryside, Rendcomb College is an HMC independent, coeducational,
boarding and day school for 3- 18 year olds, providing a stimulating, challenging and exciting
all-round education, as well as a first class environment for academic achievement.
The College consists of a large mansion built in 1865 with its additional wing constructed in 1963. The Stable
Block is now the centre of Science, Maths, Languages, ICT and Geography and, after major alterations, the
Old Rectory building became a junior house. September, 1967 saw the opening of a new Arts block, built in
Cotswold stone. Sports pitches, tennis courts and an open air swimming pool are situated in the ten acres
of surrounding parkland. The ongoing, daily task of cleaning and maintaining the variety of 19th and 20th
century buildings that make up this magnificent seat of learning, presents its challenges for the 20 staff who
work here. Accessibility can be difficult in the main house and the structures added during the sixties have
their own specific needs.
The success of Rendcomb College relies on its ability to attract fee paying students throughout the year, as
well as during school holidays and seamless cleaning service provision is critical. An Efficiency Review of the
school's facilities and cleaning services carried out by i-Clean highlighted the need for formal staff training
in health and safety, as well as equipment and chemicals competence. Having an enviable reputation for
excellence in education, it was recognized that
cleaning service delivery at Rendcomb should
reflect this also.
i-Clean's module 4 was delivered to 20
staff on site at Rendcomb College, providing
individuals with a real practical and solution
based approach;
"Some good ideas have been presented
by i-Clean that make the job better and
happier for me" said one employee; "They
spoke my language, I understand them and
it really helped. The i-Clean training module
presented the ability of identifying problem
areas quickly and accurately, always providing
ways of solving them" claimed another.
As indicated by comments above, the training was well received, everyone offered positive feedback on
learning outcomes with great synergy created among the group.
"Training was delivered in a friendly professional manner, and this was actively embraced by staff with
significant interaction by Rendcomb College's cleaning personnel"said Mr.Mark Naylor, Commercial Manager,
at Rendcomb College. He added "Key points from i-Clean's training programme were retained and acted
upon which has led to greater job satisfaction, increased morale, and a general feeling by staff that they are
supported rather than merely providing a service in the shadows".
i-Clean will be carrying out further audits at Rendcomb College to benchmark service delivery and ensure that
the improved standards achieved through recent training are fully embedded and maintained.
Since its introduction in August 2005, the i-Clean Cleaning Management System has attracted interest from
a variety of organisations in the public, commercial, manufacturing and service sectors.
